CarterCares, Inc. continues the legacy of John and Louella Carter by serving individuals and families with compassion, dignity, and practical care.
We begin where they began: with food, a full table, and the belief that no one in our community should go without.
Our Story
CarterCares, Inc. was founded in loving memory of John and Louella Carter, two people who believed that no one should ever be forgotten, overlooked, or left without hope.
For more than 30 years, they served the Fort Worth community through John Carter’s Place, a family-owned restaurant known not only for its homestyle meals, but for the compassion that filled every table. Their restaurant became a place where people found acceptance, opportunity, dignity, and care. They fed those who were struggling, offered employment to people who simply needed someone to believe in them, and welcomed every person who walked through their doors like family.
Their legacy was never just about food.
It was about serving people.
Today, CarterCares continues that legacy by responding to practical needs with compassion, restoring dignity, strengthening families, and reminding evert person we serve that there is always room at the table.

CarterCares exists to honor the legacy of John and Louella Carter by providing practical support, restoring dignity, and strengthening individuals and families facing life’s challenges through compassionate community partnerships and acts of service.

To build a community where every person is seen, valued, and cared for; where families receive the support they need; and where practical acts of kindness restore hope for generations to come.
How we help

Helping individuals and families access meals, groceries, and other basic necessities during times of need

Providing comfort kits, hygiene supplies, school supplies, seasonal outreach, and other resources that remind people they are seen, valued, and cared for

Connecting individuals and families with resources that promote emotional, mental, and physical well-being, including caregiver support, mental health assistance, grief resources, and community referrals.

Bringing people together through volunteer opportunities, partnerships, scholarships, outreach events, and collaborative service projects that strengthen our community.
